The Australian pro Mark Vos was the second biggest winner at Full Tilt Poker in February, pocketing $1.66 million of his opponents' money. While Vos has been winning big, he has not made many new friends in the process; his deep stacked opponents despise his short stacking strategy, particularly Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies as it seems. These examples from table chat illustrate the point:

Ziigmund: fu vos
Ziigmund: u f gay

Ziigmund: u r the biggest joke in pokerbusiness
Mark Vos: possibly
Mark Vos: but it pays the bills
Ziigmund: small bills for you

Mark Vos accepts the criticism but is not going to change his ways. This is what he recently wrote in the 2+2 forum: "I completely agree it's gay and annoying... But, I'm in poker because I want to make money, not to make friends. I dropped out of university to pursue a hopefully profitable, enjoyable substitute for a real job… It's cheap I accept, but it's where I am most profitable right now, so it's where I will play.”

Apart from short stacking, Vos has also been accused of multi-accounting. Naturally, this is a more sinister accusation since he is a Full Tilt Poker Pro and multi-accounting would be a serious breach of rules. According to some, Vos uses the alias JohnnyPav, switching between accounts efficiently to avoid the pocketing rule at cash game tables: he enters the table as Mark Vos with a short stack, wins some, takes off with the money, and just seconds later JohnnyPav takes his place - again buying in short.

However, Vos denies these allegations, claiming that JohnnyPav is another Australian player. Presumably they have to take turns playing in the same games because they share the same hotel room - and the same IP-number.

Be that as it may, right now Mark Vos and JohnnyPav are making pretty good money, if not new friends. In February, their combined profit was over $2 million.
