Swedish poker writer Lina Olofsson (pictured) says she knows the name of the high stakes player martonas. The identity of this player has been a source of endless speculation on the poker forums ever since he first showed up at the nosebleed games on Full Tilt Poker in late July.
According to Olofsson, martonas is a young player from Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden. He wishes to remain anonymous because of the taxman and declined a request for an interview by Olofsson.
"He has never played at the EPT, but some players at the Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg know him," Olofsson explains.
Many of Sweden's top players like Jonas "Nebuchad" Danielsson, Peter "slaktarn" Pettersson and Martin de Knijff have been "revealed" as martonas before but apparently these speculations have been false. Apart from that, some high stakes players have said that martonas reminds them of Guy Laliberte.
martonas showed up at the high stakes games in late July and immediately set the games on fire as everyone wanted to play against him. He went on an incredible rush, winning more than $2.5 million in a short time but then the wind changed and currently he is down by -$687,000. He hasn't been playing at the biggest games in the last few days and with him gone, it has been very quiet at the tables again.

well, I guess among them they know who he is; but if Zigy or Lars want/need/ask I'll tell them something strange that might help identifying him.
Tax purposes?
How can you pay tax on minus 687,000, lol.

theoretically i think you are actually supposed to pay tax on every winning hand and the losing hands are discounted according to how swedish law sees it. ofcourse i doubt they would enforce this in reality. they probably just tax what you cash out, but you never know. besides that i doubt he has played his last hand and presumably he hopes to win in the future so your argument would be moot anyways.
