In a funny moment in the latest episode of High Stakes Poker, Barry Greenstein suddenly burst into a speech about poker math after serving a bad beat to Tom Dwan in a big pot. Barry got the money in bad on the flop with top pair against durrrr's overpair, but made a lucky two pair and won the $548,700 pot.
"I don't mean to rub it in," Barry suddenly said. "Mathematically it probably wasn't a good thing, but I have to say something to all those kids on the Internet. Math is idiotic. If you feel like you're gonna win, you gotta put it in," he continued.
Not very sound poker advice, but of course Barry Greenstein knows that as a well known math guy. He was answering to a challenge put out to him on the Poker Road forum, where the forum members promised to donate money to the Children Incorporated if Barry says those magic words in High Stakes Poker.
Children Incorporated is a charity organization dedicated to helping impoverished children and their families. Barry Greenstein has donated a sizable sum to this charity over the years, and now he's asking the poker community to donate 20 dollars or more through a special Math Is Idiotic fund drive which is open on the Children Inc. website here.
Barry did a similar thing in the third season of HSP, when he famously said "LOL donkaments" in one of the episodes. That time Children Inc. got $55,000 from poker players around the world, hopefully this time the campaign will be even more successful.
