WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star ended in a win for the most unknown player at the table, McLean Karr, when he beat Andy "BKiCe" Seth heads up for the title after a lengthy battle.
Karr started heads up play in a 4.9m to 1.8m lead, but the chip stacks were almost even when the last hand was dealt 56 hands later. Seth 4-bet all-in and Karr made the call:
Seth 4c 4s
Karr 8c 8d
The board blanked and the title was settled in the final table hand no. 244. McLean Karr earned $878,500 plus $15,000 worth of bounties after busting Erik Seidel, Greg Mueller and "Miami" John Cernuto. Extra bonus will be the buy-in ($25,000) to the next WPT Championship. Playing in just his second WPT event, Karr's biggest cash to date was $42,000 and total cashes were $144,000. Online he plays with the nickname Pureprofitfour.
The most watched player at the tv table was the first to bust. Phil Hellmuth's tournament ended when he limped on the small blind, Andy Seth raised to 80k (four times the big blind), Hellmuth re-raised to 280k, Seth thought for a bit and moved all-in, Hellmuth called for approximately 800k total.

The board came K65 T... A, and Hellmuth's tournament was finished. Most people expected the usual tirade, but the Poker Brat reacted in an unusual way: he shook hands without saying anything, left the stage... and collapsed on the floor and curled into a ball. Somebody was wondering should they call the doctor, but Andy Seth was more worried about getting Hellmuth's autograph on his bounty t-shirt.
After gathering his thoughts for a while, Hellmuth returned to sign Seth's t-shirt. Seth collected most bounties at the event (4), apart from Hellmuth he busted JC Tran, Jerry Yang and Scotty Nguyen.
