German Moritz Kranich took home the trophy and the €851,400 winner's cheque in the PokerStars EPT Deauville tournament at the Casino Barriere. This is his first major cash in tournament play.

Kranich took a huge step towards victory when he won a big pot against Tristan Clemencon in three-handed play. The flop was TT8, Kranich checked to Clemencon and he bet. Kranich answered by pushing all-in. Clemencon tanked for a full five minutes before finally making the call with 82, but Kranich was miles ahead with JT. "I played my trips fast thinking if he has anything at all, he will get it in," Kranich told PokerStars Blog. "He fell for it and called my check raise." The hand catapulted Kranich to a clear lead and left Clemencon crippled, and the Frenchman was eliminated soon after.

Kranich started heads up play against another Frenchman, Arnaud Esquevin in a commanding 6:1 chip lead, and finished it off pretty quickly. The chips went in with Kranich holding A7 versus Esquevin's A3, and Kranich escaped a possible split when the board ran T96 5 A.

In the High Rollers Event at Deauville, Finland's Juha Helppi beat the field and collected a handsome €192,000 for the win. 20 players paid the entry fee of €20,000 and only three players made the money. The unfortunate bubble boy - or rather bubble girl - was Isabelle Mercier.

1. Juha Helppi 192 000 €
2. Jean Thorel 115 200 €
3. Bertrand Grospellier 76 800 €

This marks the first major tournament win for the experienced Helppi since he took down the PartyPoker Premier League and the 5k NL Hold'em event at the Bellagio Cup III back in 2007. In total, he has amassed approximately $2.5 million in tournament cashes.
