This week on our favourite TV show High Stakes Poker, eight new faces showed up for the cash game. Appearances by Tom 'durrrr' Dwan, Ilari 'Ziigmund' Sahamies and Peter Eastgate are now history, and what a history!
The last group's session was highlighted by the largest unsplit pot in the show's history: $919,000 between durrrr and Barry Greenstein. Eastgate raised to $3,500 with As Kh, Greenstein re-raised to $15,000 with Ad Ac, durrrr calls with Ks Qs and Eastgate calls as well. Flop runs 4s 2s Qh. Durrrr fires $28,700, Eastgate folds and Greenstein raises to $100,000. Durrrr goes on with his pair and flush draw and raises to $244,600 and Greenstein decides to put durrrr all-in. Durrrr calls and the pot is $919,000. The turn was a deadly Qc and the river a 7d and Tom Dwan won the largest pot in the history of the show. Watch video here.
Now for the new group we saw Patrik Antonius, Howard Lederer, Joe Hachem, Gabe Kaplan, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, 'The Simpsons' producer Sam Simon and 'The Notebook' director Nick Cassavetes and still standing Daniel Negreanu.
Action was not as crazy as on the past episodes but it was definitely entertaining, Daniel Negreanu seems to have got his play back and won a few good pots and stayed on the safe-side of bad decisions.
A lot of prop bets are also going on with the new players. One was about how many words would Patrik Antonius say at the table. The over/under was set at 78 and Antonius easily surpassed that in the first episode. Joe Hachem lost $1,000 on a prop bet saying on what rating would Cassavetes give to the movie 'Pulp Fiction', the mark was set in the 80s but Cassavete gave it a 98 for Hachem's loss.
