At the same time as the World Series of Poker there is another competition going on that has already reached its halfway mark. Nominations for the Poker Hall of Fame began running on May 26th and they will be cut off on July 2nd.
This competition has perhaps been as fierce as the one for the golden bracelets. Nominations can be made by anyone interested in the WSOP website, reports today say that over 1,000 names have been proposed.
To be considered a nominee a player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition, played for high stakes, played consistently well and have stood the test of time. For people that are not professional poker players, they must have contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker with indelible positive and lasting results.
Mike Sexton ranks amongst the favourites for this year and has the support of several fellow poker pros. But we will see how it goes, nominate to make the competition as fair as possible.
