Online poker traffic has dropped by 4% year-over-year, reports Pokerscout.com on their weekly update. While various factors such as the worldwide economic slump or market saturation may have contributed, there doesn't seem to be any dominant factor to the decline.
Of the two biggest operators, PokerStars was able to reach a small growth rate of 4% but Full Tilt Poker dropped by 8%. Other notable losers year-over-year were Cake Poker Network, Everest Poker, iPoker, Cereus, and PartyPoker.
While things may seem bleak at the moment, Pokerscout.com reminds us that things may take a drastic turn for the better if and when online poker is regulated in the USA and the market starts to expand again.
There were no changes in the chart for the biggest online rooms this week. PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker still hold nearly 60% of the market, followed by PartyPoker, iPoker, Ongame and Cereus.
