Party Poker was forced to withdraw a print advertisement from a magazine in the UK after an adjudication by the UK Advertising Standards Agency (ASA). The ad read "PLAYERS WIN MORE AT PARTYPOKER”, and “Play for a $2m guaranteed prize pool … find out why more people love to win at PartyPoker.com*.”
The asterisk clarified that the claim was based on a 10,000 players survey from May 2008. But the ASA was not happy and claimed that there is a need of concrete evidence that proves that players actually make more money at Party Poker.
Owner of PartyPoker, PartyGaming, told the ASA that the players in the survey were asked at which site they made the most money playing cash games and where were they more successful on sit & go tournaments. PartyPoker came on top so they felt their claim was justified by that and that Committee of Advertising Practive had approved it.
The ASA was successful and the ad was banned from the United Kingdom.
