Shortstacking is a strategy that's bound to cause controversy, as deepstack players hate nothing more than players who double up with their money, then leave only to return with just their original buy-in. Most notorious in this sense is probably Mark Vos but other players such as Gus Hansen have also used this strategy before. And now World Champion Peter Eastgate, too, who recently hit and ran at a PokerStars $200/$400 NL Hold'em game and instantly felt the wrath of his opponent.
It happened when Eastgate entered the game with $8,000 or just 20 big blinds, doubled up and instantly left the table. When he came back a little while later and put just $8,000 back on the table, his opponent FiSHeYe1984 had a hard time swallowing it:
FiSHeYe1984: don't you have millions ?
FiSHeYe1984: why do you hit and run like a girl ?
PeteEastgate: to make them last longer
FiSHeYe1984: shotstacking mainevent winner
FiSHeYe1984: at least show some etiquette and give me some buttons
Acemag told the story.
