The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is trying to enforce a law that was passed in 2001 in Australia. The law is called 'The Internet Gambling Act' which in recent updates includes the promotion of online gambling as an illegal activity.

On the ACMA website there is a list of unacceptable websites that includes names such as PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker and it also lists any site that could be linked to one of those such as Pokernews and Poker News Daily. The full list has 1,370 items in it and ACMA expects it to eventually add up to 10,000.

Aussies worry that this is an anti-democratic measure and that civil liberties are being decided on by bureaucrats. If the law was to be enforced it would be a shame as Australia is host to some of the most important tournaments in the poker circuit such as the Aussie Millions, the Asian Poker Tour, the Australia-New Zealand Poker Tour and the Asia Pacific Poker Tour.
