PokerStars has published a list of more than 40 EPT title holders who have confirmed their participation in this year's Tournament of Champions in Madrid. The runners will compete for a €50K EPT passport.
PokerStars has published a list of the players who have confirmed their participation in this year's premiering EPT Tournament of Champions in Madrid, with more than 40 names currently signed up for the high profile event.
All registered players are EPT title holders, meaning that they won at least one main event in the European Poker Tour's seven years of history, and already the tournament is shaping up to be one of the most interesting events on the 2011 calendar.
With such strong qualification requirements, today's published participants list thus includes some of poker's absolute heavyweights, ranging from well known veterans to talented up-and-comers.
Among the biggest names are players such as 2008 EPT London winner Jason Mercier, 2008 PCA Champion Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, 2010 EPT San Remo winner Liv Boeree and Roland de Wolfe, who earned his entry ticket in the 2006 edition of the EPT Dublin.
The list also includes some of the most prolific European poker players and tournament regulars, mot notably Arnaud Mattern, Pieter de Korver, Sandra Naujoks, Jens Kyllönen, Kent Lundmark, Kevin Stani, David Vamplew as well as the tour's two most recent winners from the Snowfest and Berlin events, Vladimir Geshkenbein and Ben Wilinofsky.
The EPT Tournament of Champions will be played at the end of the EPT Grand Final, which has this year moved from Monte Carlo in Monaco to the Casino Gran Madrid, Spain.
The event is set to run on May 13th after the Grand Final's main event, and will see the winner walk away with a Season 8 passport for the EPT, worth €50,000.
