The return of the European Poker Tour on French soil was a whopping success, as 645 players in total coughed up the €5,300 entry fee to take part in the PokerStars EPT Deauville tournament held at the Casino Barriere in northern France.

The total prize pool is €3.1 million with the winner receiving €851,400 and 64 players making the money.

The opening day was split in two, and after both fields have now finished play there is still some uncertainty about the leader. Belgian Jonathan Abdellatif is still listed at the first place in the chip count provided by PokerStars Blog, however it was reported that "Devilfish" Ulliott (pictured) managed to double up his stack in the closing minutes of Day 1B and is in fact in the lead coming to Day 2.

Play continues today at noon CET and the plan is to play until there are 32 players left.
