Many sports stars have been bitten by the poker bug but no one probably as bad as the Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor, as is apparent by this strange story first published in the Scottish Sun.
The goalie was assaulted outside a Glasgow nightclub but when the police came to his house to question him about the incident, he was playing online poker - and kept on playing through the two-hour conversation as the frustrated officers tried to find out what had happened to him.
“It was unbelievable. They called cops in to find out who battered him but he couldn't have been more disinterested. Usually when the police arrive at anyone's house people drop what they are doing. But McGregor seemed more interested in the cards," said an anonymous source to Scottish Sun.
Allegedly McGregor was attacked by at least two men outside the nightclub. "He was headbutted in the eye. It was a really vicious attack. His face is a mess. It is very swollen and bruised," McGregor's friend explained. The goalie says he has no idea who the assailants were or why he was attacked.
McGregor himself was a suspect when a young woman accused him of raping her at a party in November. McGregor denies the claims and nothing indicates that the attack on him is related to the incident.
