For some time before this week's announcement, Tony G had been hinting on his blog that he is about to sign a sponsorship deal with a major site; it turns out that the site in question is PartyPoker, where Tony will join the likes of Mike Sexton and Kara Scott in Team Party. "I have been working with Party since day one as a big affiliate and it made sense to take this partnership further," Tony states on his first blog entry on blog.partypoker.com.
Antanas "Tony G" Guoga has featured in a number of PartyPoker's tv cash games or tournaments, like the Poker Den or the Intercontinental Poker Championship in 2006, where Tony famously assaulted (verbally, that is) Ralph Perry after the Russian representative called his all-in shove with KJ. See the video here. "I got a bit out of line but I always insist that in the case of Ralph Perry he was waiting for someone to carry him out!" Tony writes.
On his blog entry, Tony is eagerly waiting for the next PartyPoker Premier League in February, especially for the chance to bust Phil Hellmuth and Luke Schwartz. "Is Luke Schwartz the new Devilfish?" Tony asks referring to his old nemesis. "He’s rude, obnoxious and I cannot wait to bust him up. This kid is not the kind of player you feel you can learn from – you just want to bust him."
Apart from tournaments, Tony intends to play some cash games on PartyPoker under his screen name "TonyG". He has already featured at the $250/$500 limit games, but you will also be able to catch him at the $2/$4 level.
