Day 3 at the WSOP Main Event is done and the original 7,319 field has shrunk to 1,240 or so players, of whom more than half will still be there when the bubble bursts tomorrow.

While the official chipcount will be published later, it seems that James Carroll is in the lead with approximately 800k in chips with several notables in strong position.

The blinds are at 1.2k/2.4k (ante 300) and the tournament average is approximately 177k at this point. Notables who are over the 400k mark include Johnny Lodden, Alexander Kostritsyn, Jesper Hougaard, Cole South, Scott Clements, Nick Rainey, and Fabrice Soulier.

The 1987 and 1988 World Champion (and 1989 runner-up to Phil Hellmuth) Johnny "The Orient Express" Chan (pictured) and his 600k stack were among the most discussed topics of the day, as were the four Mizrachi brothers: amazingly Robert, Eric, Danny and Michael will all return to Day 4. If all of them make it to the money it will be a feat that won't be repeated by any "band of brothers" in a long time.

Some players whose Main Event came to an end include the current champ Joe Cada, his predecessor from 6 years back Chris Moneymaker, and Phil Laak, Jennifer Harman, Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, John Hennigan, and the legendary gambler Archie Karas, who once famously ran $50 to a staggering $40 million playing pool, poker and table games before losing it all back at the craps tables at the Binion's Horseshoe casino.
