According to Cake Poker Blog, there are persistent rumors going round in Las Vegas that the WSOP may be changing venues in 2011, from its' current home at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino to... Planet Hollywood.


WSOP has taken place at the Rio since 2005 though it has never been a popular choice among the players. Rio has the floor space to hold an event like the WSOP but that's about the only thing going for it; the players' chief complaint being that the casino is located too far from the Strip.

Planet Hollywood is at the heart of the Strip and significantly, the Rio and WSOP brand owners Harrah's Entertainment is reportedly very close to purchasing the company. Apparently, this piece of news sent the rumors flying and the common view seems to be that the WSOP will be held at the Rio in 2010 but next year the event will move to Planet Hollywood.
