On Saturday at the FTOPS XV Event #23, Yuval "yuvee04" Bronshtein became the only player to have won four FTOPS titles in his career; however, the manner of the victory was pretty unusual and Bronshtein will likely hear a lot of comments about it in the future. Basically, he bought his title when there were 3 players remaining at the event.
Event #23 was a $100+$9 PLO rebuy and Bronshtein was the chip leader when the field had withered down to 3 players. Wanting to make sure of his title, Bronshtein came up with a surprising offer to the players:
yuvee04: hey i will give u guys each an extra 5k if i can have the title
yuvee04: and we can end it right here
stalex107: lol cool w me
yuvee04: its obviously important to me
So Bronshtein was offering a normal chip count deal on top of which he would give each of his opponents $5,000 reward for giving the game to him. The player Specialkmaster managed to negotiate an extra $2,500 for himself, and after the deal was settled, Specialkmaster and stalex107 raise-folded until Bronshtein eventually had all the chips and his precious title.
The official results for the final table were:
1st: Yuval “yuvee04” Bronshtein ($72,760.68)
2nd: Specialkmaster ($66,359.96)
3rd: stalex107 ($58,404.16)
