As a result of another ill-advised side bet, Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies is now officially sporting a big fat tattoo of his favorite ice hockey team's logo in his side. So what the hell happened?
Ilari and a couple of friends were at the Finnish ice hockey (biggest sport in Finland) league match HIFK vs JYP a couple of weeks ago, and the beer was flowing as usual. One of the guys, a JYP fan, had the bright idea that they should make a bet; whoever loses the match, will have to take a tattoo of his team. Naturally Ilari and his friend, tv host Heikki Paasonen said yes. The score was 3-3 at the time but HIFK ended up losing 3-4, and that was that for the two HIFK fans.
Fast forward to the Blue Dragon tattoo studio in Helsinki, where Ilari and his friend are having their team's logo carved in their skin. The guy doing the tattoos turned out to be an HIFK fan himself, so you can guess the tattoos are a piece of art, done with care and respect.
Ilari took the logo in his side where it will stay with him till the rest of his days... "It's cool," he says to Coinflip.com. "I've been a fan since I was 9 years old so I don't mind at all."
The story is also told in Finnish on the HIFK web site - with pictures. Go here. The title of the story is in Swedish and means, "Once HIFK - Always HIFK!"
