Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies blogs about his 1st of May celebrations in Helsinki. Forty single mothers with their kids got a pleasant surprise from the poker pro.


1st of May or "vappu" as it's called in Finland is one of the biggest days in the Finnish party calendar and the only thing coming close to a carnival day in the Nordic country. As you can expect, someone like Ziigmund is gonna be there when vappu comes along.

"Vappu was great party here in Finland.It was 4 day drinking with friends and it was cool....I bought like 40 balloons and gave those for every singlemothers child who hadnt a balloon.." Ziigmund writes on his blog.

"That was my good job of the year....Now I can do whatever rest of the year," he adds like the true philanthropist that he is.

This isn't the first time that Ilari goes on a "balloon mission" on the 1st of May. "I've done it 3 years in row now and it's becoming like a tradition," he comments to Coinflip. "There were lots of happy faces again."

It wasn't all roses and balloons, though, as Ilari made the mistake of playing another drunken session this time against Brian Townsend. In one hand he went all-in preflop with a 200bb stack holding KKK8.

On Wednesday he played 500/1k with Gus Hansen and lost approximately 250k. "I was leading like 75 % of pots but lostall...I lost 250k or some like that.I hate poker at this moment so fcikng much.Maybe its time to take realbrake from poker...I dont know..." he writes.
